ما يجعل هذا المؤلّف ورقة علمية فريدة من نوعها، هوأنها تحتوي على سرد تاريخ موجز للغة العربية، فضلاً عن معلومات وافية عن قواعد اللغة العربية، كما يتضمن ترجمة باللغة الإنجليزية لكل الأمثلة المضمّنة في الكتاب لفائدة الدارسين المبتدئين. يمكن عموماً تقسيم الورقة للأبواب الآتية:

للاستفادة القصوى من هذا المرجع، ينبغي للدارس أن يكون مُلِمّاً بأسس الكتابة باللغة العربية قبل البدء في استخدامه. ورغماً عن التعرّض للأبجدية في بداية الكتاب، إلاّ أنه لا يذكر جميع أشكال كتابة الحروف العربية، بل يعرض لها بمعزل عن تمثيلها في سياق الكلمة.

This book is a free, online computer reference that is completely accessible to anyone.
What makes this paper unique is that it contains a brief history of the Arabic language as well as information on the history of Arabic grammar. All Arabic examples are also translated into English for the beginning student. The paper can be generally separated into the following sections:
1. Introduction with the history of Arabic language and grammar
2. The Alphabet
3. Various grammatical terms (all listed under the table of contents)
4. Vocabulary list of Arabic verbs
5. Language pedagogy
6. References
In order to use this resource to the fullest extent, one should already know the Arabic script before beginning. Although it goes over the alphabet in the beginning, it does not give the letters in all of their forms and lists them only in their isolated forms.
The author is Mohammad Jiyad, a Senior Lecturer Emeritus in Arabic at Mount Holyoke College.
