آرتولز هو قاموس متاح مجاناً على الشبكة العنكبوتية يقدّم ترجمة من العربية إلي الإنجليزية ومن الإنجليزية إلى العربية بالرغم من أن الخدمة الأخيرة ما زالت محدودة نوعاً ما. وما زال الموقع في بداياته الأولى حيث لم يتم تفعيل الكثير من الخصائص التقنية مثل ترجمة جملة كاملة أو عبارة تتكون من أكثر من كلمة حتى الآن وكذلك تطوير البرامجية التي تسمح باستخدام الخدمة على أجهزة ماكس.
تكمن نقاط القوة الرئيسية لهذا الموقع الإلكتروني في مقدرة البرنامج على توفير ترجمة تعتمد على جذر الكلمة (المصدر) من العربية إلى الإنجليزية، إضافة إلى التعرّف على اشتقاقات الكلمة. على سبيل المثال، إذا أدخلنا مفردة "يستمتع"، يعطى البرنامج التعريف المفصّل الآتي((he/it enjoy; relish [sic]), the subject (3. Person, male, singular), the type (imperfect tense verb), and the root (متع). ويمكن أن يعطى البرنامج العديد من المقترحات في حالة إدخال جزء من الكلمة. يعتبر البرنامج المشغًل لهذا الموقع متقدما جداً من الناحية التقنية بحيث يستطيع التعرّف على الاختلاف في الكلمات التي يتوجّب استخدام الهمزة فيها من عدمه مثل الفرق بين استمتع و أستمتع بما يوفّر الكثير من العناء على المبتدئين في دراسة النحو في معرفة الفروقات الدقيقة في النحو العربي.
Aratools is a free, online dictionary that provides translation from Arabic to English and from English into Arabic, although the latter is still somewhat limited. It is still in its relative infancy as a website and some of the features are not yet up and running, such as translating sentences and phrases, or aratools software for Macs.
The main strength of this website is in providing a root based translation for words from Arabic to English, as well as the program’s ability to recognize conjugated words. For instance, if one types in ?????? the output will be the meaning (he/it enjoy; relish [sic]), the subject (3. Person, male, singular), the type (imperfect tense verb), and the root (???). It will also give you a list of suggestions if you type in part of a word. The software is sophisticated enough to recognize the difference in words with or without hamzas ( ?????? vs. ?????? ), which can help those who struggle with grammatical nuances.
