This packet represents resources needed to teach and understand the Syrian refugee crisis as of early 2015. The packet includes a robust set of links to articles on a variety of aspects of the crisis, an article from UNICEF about the crisis, and a unit plan for high school students titled “Conflict, Human Rights, and Refugee Populations” that specifically engages students in thinking about Syrian refugees. The unit plan includes suggested opportunities for connecting students to people working on the crisis and the development of an action plan, thus pushing the students outside of the classroom and into engaging with the world around them. >
