Description:

Haifa Al-Mansour’s film, which is the first feature film directed by a Saudi woman and the first shot completely in Saudi Arabia, tells the story of a rebellious ten year old girl named Wadjda. Refusing to accept the idea that girls can’t ride bikes, she attempts to win enough money to buy one by entering a Koran recitation competition at school. Wadjda’s relationship with her mother and friends, as well as her struggles against the surrounding environment, all come alive in this charming, touching film. The film is in Arabic accompanied by French and English subtitles. The film is also dubbed in French. >
