The African Studies Initiative at the Institute for Global Studies and CARLA (Center for Advanced Research on Language Acquisition, University of Minnesota) are collaborating to offer $500 stipends for K-14 educators of African Languages (including Arabic and Portuguese) in order to attend a CARLA summer institute. The full line-up of institutes can be found on the CARLA summer institute website. Deadline: April 1, 2016 (Stipends will be awarded in a rolling basis starting January 15, 2016 until all funding has been used). To apply for the stipend, fill out theapplication form and submit to Deborah Jane ([email protected]) a one-page resume and a one-page letter of introduction in which you address how the stipend will aid your professional development and how the Summer Institute will aid your teaching of the African less commonly taught language. >
