This sourcebook provides excerpts from famous pieces of Classical Arabic literature translated into English. The readings begin with a thorough introduction to the history of Arabic literature. Excerpts of the story of Al Hariri of Basrah are provided in great detail up to the twelfth assembly (maqamat).
