Description:

This lesson explores Bedouin culture in Egypt through music and shadow puppetry. In this lesson, middle school students learn about different musical instruments and structures through the song “Abu Zeid El Hilali.” An extension to the lesson involves learning about the context of the song as a piece of an epic poem and then telling this story through Egpytian shadow puppetry.
