The classic and somewhat controversial film, The Battle of Algiers, tells of the Algerian resistance movement and fight for independence from French colonialism that took place from 1954-1962. The film follows the actions of National Liberation Front rebels and their efforts to expel the French from their land. This resource provides historical context for the teacher as well as discussion questions highlighting ethical issues of torture, violence and peace-building. >
