The Center for Advanced Research on Language Acquisition will be offering its twentieth selection of summer institutes for language teachers in 2016. CARLA summer institute participants – more than 4,600 to date – have come from every state and countries all over the world. They have included foreign language, immersion, and ESL teachers at all levels of instruction, as well as program administrators, curriculum specialists, and language teacher educators. There is also an educator stipend available for teacher of African languages (including Arabic) with a deadline of April 1, 2016.

QFI is collaborating with CARLA to offer $500 stipends for K-14 educators of African Languages (including Arabic and Portuguese) in order to attend a CARLA summer institute. Stipends will be awarded in a rolling basis starting January 15, 2016 until all funding has been used). To apply for the stipend, fill out the application form and submit to Deborah Jane ([email protected]) a one-page resume and a one-page letter of introduction in which you address how the stipend will aid your professional development and how the Summer Institute will aid your teaching of the African less commonly taught language. >
