يعتمد هذا الكتاب إلى حد كبير على اللهجة السورية التي يتحدثها أهالي دمشق، وهي جزء مما تعارف عليه الناس ب"اللهجة العربية السورية"، اللهجة الشرقية" ، لهجة أهل الشام"، وتشمل فيما تشمل اللهجات المستخدمة في بيروت وعمّان والقدس ودمشق، مع الإشارة إلى التنوعات الإقليمية. يضم الكتاب ملاحظات حول كيفية اتقان الاختلافات الدقيقة في النطق، إضافةً إلى الاختلافات في المعاني بأشكالها المتعددة. لا يناسب هذا الكتاب المبتدئين إذ أنه يستخدم كتابة الأصوات العربية بالحروف اللاتينية للتأكيد على النطق الصحيح للمفردات والعبارات.
Largely based on Damascene dialect, the language covered here is part of what has variously been called “Syrian Arabic,” “Eastern Arabic,” and “Levantine Arabic,” encompassing the dialects of Beirut, Amman, Jerusalem, and Damascus, with references made to regional variants. It contains hints on how to master nuances in pronunciation, as well as the differences of meaning in their various forms. Not intended for beginners, the book is transliterated instead of providing words in Arabic to emphasize correct pronunciation. >
