"تعرّف على مدرستي"هي الوحدة الثالثة من سلسلة تحتوي على ثمانية وحدات تهدف لتعريف الطلاب باللهجة الشامية كما يتحدث بها أهله، بالإضافة إلى تعلّم عناصر من اللغة العربية الفصحى المعاصرة. بالاتساق التام مع المعايير الوطنية لتدريس اللغات الأجنبية، تهدف هذه الوحدة إلى تطوير كفاءة الطالب اللغوية في الفئات التالية: التواصل مع الأخرين- المحادثة والاستماع والقراءة والكتابة؛ والكفاءة الإدراكية – الاستماع/القراءة؛ وعرض الأراء – التحدّث/الكتابة، والثقافة . تشتمل الوحدة على العديد من الأنشطة التعليمية لأجل مساعدة الطلاب في تطوير المهارات المذكورة أعلاه، مثل قراءة الدروس التي تعزز من تعلّم المفردات والمفاهيم النحوية وذلك بالإضافة إلى عرض قوائم المفردات التي تعكس موضوع الوحدة. تشمل الأنشطة المقترحة توصيف الصورباستخدام اللغة العربية لزميل دراسة بينما يقوم الآخر بمحاولة رسم الصورة الموصوفة، توصيف لوحة فنية مشهورة من العالم العربي باستخدام اللغة العربية، بالإضافة إلى الألعاب المفضلة لزميل دراسة مثل بينغو أو فلنذهب لنصطاد السمك ، أو يقول سايمون. ترافق معظم الأنشطة المقترحة العديد من الملفات التي يمكن تنزيلها من الإنترنت، والتي تساعد فيى توجيه المدرسين في عملية إعداد وتنظيم هذه الأنشطة. تحتاج هذه الأنشطة إلى ما بين عشرة إلى ستسين دقيقة من الإعداد والتنفيذ داخل قاعة الدراسة.
بمنحة من مؤسسة قطر الخيرية العالمية، تم تصميم هذا الموقع الذي يهدف إلى توفير مادة تدريسية يمكن أن يستخدمها المدرسون في قاعات الدراسة في المرحلة الثانوية، كما تصلح للاستخدام في برامج التطور المهني بالنسبة للمدرسين الآخرين وللعاملين في إدارة العملية التعليمية. يهدف الموقع من توفير هذه المواد التعليمية إلى ربط الطلاب باللغة العربية عبر طرائق تدريس تمت تجربتها داخل قاعات الدراسة حيث يستخدمها العديد من أساتذة اللغة العربية من ذوى الخبرة في بييئات تتحدث اللغة الإنجليزية كلغة أولى. تهدف مصادر التعلّم المتوفرة عبر هذا الموقع إلى ربط الطلاب باللغة العربية من خلال أساليب تم تجريبها داخل قاعات الدراسة من قبل خبراء في تدريس اللغة العربية في بيئة تتحدث اللغة الإنجليزية كلغة أولى. وحسب ما جاء في الموقع، ترتبط كافة الأنشطة التي تشتمل عليها كل وحدة بواحد أو أكثر من المعايير الوطنية لتدريس اللغات الأجنبية (“the 5 Cs”)، وذلك لمساعدة المدرسين في وضع خطط دراسية فعّالة لإعداد طلابهم للإنخراط بفعالية في التواصل ما بين الثقافات.
This is My School is the third unit of an eight unit series that introduces students to spoken Levantine Arabic, as well as elements of Modern Standard Arabic. In line with National Standards for Learning Languages, the unit seeks to have students develop competency in the following categories: Interpersonal – Speaking/Listening Reading/Writing; Interpretive – Listening/Reading; Presentational – Speaking/Writing; Culture. Along with a vocabulary list reflective of the unit’s theme, a number of unit activities are included in order to help develop the aforementioned language competencies. Suggested activities include reading activities about unit-specific vocabulary and other grammatical concepts, describing pictures in Arabic to a classmate while the latter draws what is described, describing in Arabic well-known pieces of art from the Arab world, as well as classmate-specific popular games, such as Bingo, Go Fish, and Simon Says. A number of downloadable documents accompany most proposed activities in order to guide teachers in their organization of said activities. Activities are estimated to take up anywhere from ten to sixty minutes of preparation and class time.
Made possible through a grant from Qatar Foundation International, Arabic Teaching Resources is a website that focuses on providing classroom material and resources to the high school Arabic teaching community, as well as professional development resources for other teachers and administrators. The site’s resources aim to connect students to the Arabic language through “classroom-tested” methods utilized by several experienced teachers of Arabic in English-speaking learning environments. According to the website, all unit activities are tied to one or more of the National Standards for Foreign Language Education (“the 5 Cs”) to assist “teachers in planning effective effective courses that prepare their students to actively engage in intercultural communication.”
