Using Songs in the Language Classroom provides instruction how to create fun ways to learn and retain language concepts and vocabulary through singing and listening to songs. The proposed activities outline several methods on incorporating music in the classroom, including types of songs to target and how to place each song in the service of particular learning goals, and suggest several practical ways to carry out song-activities through the use of learning material. Through reviewing vocabulary and language concepts via activities that engage high school students at an age-appropriate level, these 5-20 minute activities can be used as practice, or as basic review, throughout the entire school year.
Made possible through a grant from Qatar Foundation International, Arabic Teaching Resources is a website that focuses on providing classroom material and resources to the high school Arabic teaching community, as well as professional development resources for other teachers and administrators. The site’s resources aim to connect students to the Arabic language through “classroom-tested” methods utilized by several experienced teachers of Arabic in English-speaking learning environments.
