وضع هذا الكتاب بهدف مساعدة طلاب اللغة العربية في المستوى المتوسط والمتقدّم من الكفاءة اللغوية في تعلّم كيفية الكتابة بصورة صحيحة باللغة العربية. يستخدم الكتاب تمارين استيعاب النصوص عبر القراءة، وتحليل أساليب كتابة النصوص ، وقواعد اللغة ، والتمارين اللغوية لتعريف الطلاب بأنواع متنوعة وواسعة من الأساليب والأنواع في الكتابة. يبدأ كل باب من أبواب الكتاب بجعل الطلاب يقومون بتحليل ومناقشة نموذج لنص مكتوب من جنس أدبي بعينه، ومن ثمّ ينتقل إلى مقاربة تعتمد على قيام الطلاب بانتاج نصوص كتابية بأنفسهم بحيث تتوسع مفرداتهم ويتدربون على استخدام أساليب متنوعة ، ويتعلّمون بعض النقاط المهمة في قواعد اللغة والتدرّب على كتابة نصوص إنشائية قصيرة وطويلة تحت إشراف المعلم.

This book is designed to help intermediate and advanced level students of Arabic learn how to write properly in Arabic. It uses reading comprehension, analyses of stylistic devices, grammar, and exercises to expose students to a wide variety of styles and registers. Chapters begin by letting students analyze and discuss a sample text in a particular genre, which then moves to a productive approach whereby students expand vocabulary, practice using stylistic devices, learn grammar points, and then practice writing short and long guided compositions.
The following writing styles and genres are covered: personal writing, professional writing, instructions and technical descriptions, description and comparison, narration, and academic writing.
