ساهم ديفيد ميلينج بعمل الرسومات التوضيحيحة لكتاب أكسفورد المعنون كلماتي الأولى في اللغة العربية، وهو كتاب مصوّر مزدوج اللغة يتمحور حول مواضيع محددة، ويحتوي على أكثر من 400 كلمة عربية مع ترجمتها في اللغة الإنجليزية.يمكن للمستخدم أخذ جولة داخل كتاب الصوّر خلال يوم عادي، ليرى صور تعرض أوضاع مألوفة، ومختلف الأشياء، وصوّر الحيوانات، ضمن مفاهيم أخرى. يقدّم الكتاب نظرة عين الصقر للأشياء للتلميذ قبل بدء اليوم الدراسي في الصباح، وأثناء الرحلة من وإلى المدرسة، وداخل حجرة الفصل والكثير من غير ذلك. أخيراً، يحتوي الملحق المضاف في نهاية الكتاب على أنشطة مثل مواءمة الكلمة مع الصورة التي تمثلها، وألعاب المطابقة، وعد صور الحشرات المصوّرة حتى العدد عشرين، والأشكال ، والأضداد، والطقس ، مع فهرس كامل.

Illustrated by David Melling, Oxford’s First Arabic Words is a thematic bilingual picture book that contains more than 400 Arabic vocabulary words with their English translation. Users can take a picture-book journey through an average day, showing them familiar settings, objects, and animals among other concepts. The book offers a bird’s eye view of getting ready for school in the morning, the journey to school, inside the classroom and much more. Ultimately, The supplementary section at the back of the book includes activities such as a picture/word matching game, counting the ladybirds up to twenty, shapes, opposites, weather, time, and a comprehensive index.
