صدر هذا المعجم العربي – الإنجليزي من إعداد إدوارد وليام لين، لأول مرة في القرن التاسع عشر، ليظل واحداً من أوسع مصادر التعلّم في ترجمة اللغة العربية الكلاسيكية استخداماً. تعتمد الإدخالات على نظام الجذر وهي شاملة، وفي الغالب مصحوبة بأمثلة على استخدام المفردة في نصوص اللغة العربية الكلاسيكية. تسمح النسخة الإلكترونية من المعجم للباحث بأن يستغل الأجزاء الثمانية من المعجم من خلال البحث من صفحة لأخرى أو من خلال تنزيل كل مجلد على حدة. لا تسمح التقنية المستخدمة في تصميم الموقع الإلكتروني بامكانية تقليب الصفحات بل يجب مشاهدة كل صفحة على حدة.
First published in the 19th century, the Arabic – English Lexicon by Edward William Lane remains one of the most widely used resources for classical Arabic translation. Entries are based on the root system and are exhaustive, often including examples of the use of the word in classical texts. This online version allows the scholar to utilize the 8 volume dictionary by searching page by page or by downloading each volume in turn. The technology does not allow the user to flip through pages; they must be viewed individually.
