تم تطوير هذا المشروع عبر جهد علمي كبير واضطلاع خبراء في الترجمة العربية. ويهدف المشروع إلى سد الحاجة المُلِحّة لكُتُب على درجة عالية من الجودة في مواضيع جاذبة للأطفال، لتضاف إلى المكتبة المدرسية العربية. تضم المكتبة مجموعة مختارة من العناوين الأكثر مبيعاً في السوق وتضم كتب قصص الخيال وغيرها التي تستهدف الأطفال من الصف الأول إلى الصف السادس. إضافة إلى ذلك، تعرض المكتبة برنامج شامل لتدريب المعلمين، تم إعداده وتصميمه حصرياً ليستخدم من قبل المعلمين الذين يستخدمون ما يطرحه مشروع مكتبتي مع تلاميذهم في قاعات الدرس.
باكتمال المشروع، سيكون هنالك ما بين 30 إلى 40 عنوان لكل مستوى صف دراسي في مختلف المواضيع تشمل: العلوم والجغرافيا وكتب السيرة والتاريخ والقصص الشعبية والأدب الكلاسيكي والمعاصر. كما يشتمل برنامج تدريب المعلمين على استراتيجيات وتمارين مستمدة من العناوين المتاحة فعلياً للصف الدراسي المحدد. يصاحب المكتبة دليل المعلم ويقدّم للمعلم مقترحات حول كل الجوانب التي تقود إلى تحسين مهارات القراءة لدى تلاميذهم. ويشتمل الدليل على العديد من الدروس والأنشطة التي تتعلق مباشرة بالكتب المتاحة في مكتبتي.
Developed by Scholastic with the translation of Arabic professionals, My Arabic Library is a project aimed at addressing the dire need for high-quality Arabic-language classroom titles with great appeal to children. The library offers a selection of best-selling Scholastic high-interest fiction and nonfiction titles for grades 1-6. In addition, the library display includes a comprehensive Teacher Training program created and developed exclusively for the teachers who will be using My Arabic Library in their classrooms.
Upon completion of the project, each grade level will contain 30-40 titles of various subjects that include: science, geography, biography, history, folk tales, and contemporary and classic fiction. Ultimately, the teacher training program includes strategies and exercises drawn from the actual titles in the classroom libraries. The Teacher’s Guide which accompanies the libraries provides teachers with suggestions on all aspects of promoting reading in their classrooms. The guide includes various lessons and activities that directly pertain to the titles in My Arabic Library.
