This is a scope and sequence meant to be used by teachers of intermediate level Arabic language students, for planning a unit around “countries and nationalities”. Goals include:

  1. Identify the key vocabulary related to geographical terms and maps
  2. Evaluate the impact of weather and climate on landscape.
  3. Identify the key elements of different governmental systems
  4. Understand the roll of economics in a society
  5. Recognize and analyze the role of age and gender in society
  6. Recognize and discuss significant similarities and differences in the Arab and non-Arab world including geography, governmental systems, economy, and social systems
  7. Apply new vocabulary words to talk about the Arab World and prepare presentations
  8. Ask and respond to questions about geography of the Arab World
  9. Read and write key words and form sentences and paragraphs
