This comprehensive unit plan develops student understanding of the Arab Spring while also exploring the role of digital technologies in effecting change. Students first develop a common basic understanding about social media, the Arab Spring, and the geography of the Middle East. Students then dig deeper into the specifics of different countries during the Arab Spring and the role of social media in mobilizing people during the protests. This unit thus engages students in both, a current event issue from the Middle East and the role of technologies they utilize on a regular basis. >
