يعتبر كتاب السيد رايت في قواعد اللغة العربية من أهم الكتب في مجاله على الإطلاق، وقد ظلت معظم المؤلفات اللاحقة له في هذا المجال تُحيل إليه كمرجع أساسي. تمت ترجمة الكتاب لأول مرة من اللغة الألمانية ونشر في عام 1967، ومنذ ذلك الحين تمت طباعته في طبعات شعبية تحتوي على كافة المجلدات الأصلية من هذا السفر المهم في كتاب واحد، مع إدخال بعض التغييرات البسيطة ابتداءً من الطبعة الثالثة التي صدرت في العام 1985. يحتوي الكتاب على معلومات حول كل التراكيب النحوية في اللغة العربية تقريباً كما يشتمل على قسم خاص بالشعر والتجاوز النحوي في الكتابة الشعرية.
This book is the seminal work on Arabic grammar, and is often referenced in other Arabic grammar books. It was first translated from German and published in 1859. Since 1967 it has been published in paperback form containing both original volumes in one book, although few changes have been made since the third edition in 1896. It contains information on nearly every grammatical construction in Arabic and includes a fairly large section on poetry and poetic license in Arabic.
