In this lesson, students will learn about the U.S. government’s perspective on Muslim women during the early portion of the 21st century through the lens of Dr. Lila Abu-Lughod. Dr. Abu-Lughod is an anthropologist who specializes in Arab women. Some of the essential questions that are addressed in this lesson are: Who are Muslim women?  What does it mean to be a Muslim woman? What should the U.S. government’s role be in determining the fate of Muslim women outside of the U.S.? and much more. This lesson requires an entire class period to be completed. >
